Dramatic Arts Program (Grades 9-12)
The Dramatic Arts Program offers a ‘practice drives theory’ learning approach to the world of drama. While attaining knowledge of the history and foundations of the discipline, students learn the skills by ‘doing’ the art. Various elements students will explore are: improvisation, script-writing and analysis, genres and styles of theatre and film, on-camera acting, roles in the theatre, tableaux, mime, musical theatre, movement, voice, film and theatre production, history, numerous acting approaches, and character creation. Throughout the years, students will learn the basics and fundamentals of drama while exploring the fine details and techniques that will assist in their success as an industry professional. The program is geared towards learning skills in both theatre and film. Not only will the students attain experience in-front of the camera and on the stage, but also gain confidence in their skills in all back-stage and off-camera facets of the industry. Students will attain invaluable life skills through the cross-curricular training offered in the Arts & Culture Program. In addition to sharpening their artistic abilities, students will gain confidence, articulation, critical thinking and collaboration skills while discovering their identity and self worth.
