Visual Arts Program (Grades 9-12)
The Visual Arts program at Robert F. Hall C.S.S. develops a young artist's technical skills and creative vision through the study of a variety of traditional and contemporary media. Our four year program includes studies in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media. Within each grade level, studios are designed to further enhance the artist’s creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Visual Arts courses enable students to explore their creative potential within a positive and encouraging environment. Students in grades 9 and 10 focus on technique exploration with an emphasis on the understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design as a basis for composition. Students studying at the senior level, work towards developing a personal approach to art making. Final studios in each grade level are displayed throughout the school and community.
The study of art history, gallery visits, out of country excursions and participation in art exhibitions also form integral parts of the Visual Arts program at Robert F. Hall.
Students wishing to pursue a Visual Arts Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) will engage in a variety of in-class activities and out of school community partnership opportunities in order to enhance their high school experience. The goal of this specialized Arts program is to provide enriched learning opportunities so that a solid base is provided to those students wishing to pursue a future in the Visual Arts and Culture sector.
